1- Social Media – Did you know that 6 of the highest visited websites in the world are social media websites.? As an online marketer we don’t just join in the conversation, we start the conversation and have other people follow us.

We don’t sell from social media…its all about building relationships and trust as people tend to buy and do business with people they know like and trust.
Social media is like a party… where you meet someone and then become friends…over time they ask you what you do and you start talking business…and soon all there friends are using your service and business for themselves.
Social Media is fun and profitable…it is a longer term strategy that needs to be employed by everyone to keep up. Being found and getting seen is the key to success and we want our clients to be everywhere.
2- Websites – an an online marketer your website is like a 24/7 salesperson and its your job to help keep people coming to the website…but first we need to make the website ready for traffic or customers.
Many business owners fell into the trap of paying some ‘’expert’’ thousands of dollars to build them an expensive website that does nothing for there business.
Your website needs to be easy to navigate, appealing to the customer and has to solve the problem they are searching for. A good direct response website has calls to actions, specials and things of interest to the prospect.
Just because you build does not mean they will come. You have to send people to your website and have good reasons for them to stay…all within a matter of seconds. Driving offline to your website is one thing but being found and getting seen is another….we will talk about that next….
3- Link building – I realize you may have never heard of that before….but its an easy concept once you know it and it is powerful. A good link builder is worth a lot to the business owner and to yourself.
To understand link building best I need to explain the why in link building. To be found online you want to be on the first page of the Search Engines/Google. Ultimately you want to be #1 but at least be in the top 3.
To do that you will need links coming/pointing to your websites URL. A URL is your website address like www.yoursite.com
In Googles mind the more links you have from other websites and webmasters the more relevant your site is to the searchers search term.
See, Google is in the relevancy business and they want to return the best match possible to the searcher. One of the ways they do that is to ‘’crawl’’ your website with there own ‘’engine’’ it’s a complicated computerized system….when they crawl they are looking for relevant keywords to the search term requested.
But, lets say there are 2 website that have the same keywords on there site. How will Google determine who ranks higher?
Links. From other websites and your own internal links. Pages and links create ranking because the more pages you have the more opportunity to link to those pages.
So what we want to do is go out and get links. Good thing is there are lots of places to get them and its not that hard. All we have to do is provide our links on other website properties and create good content like posts, articles etc… and we point the links to our site.
Like I said link building can be powerful and every website on the web needs links. As an Online Marketing Assistant you can link build yourself for the client or outsource this work, depending on the size of the business….either way it’s a great way to get a lot of business.
4- Lead capture everyone knows they need leads to filter there business. So many people have relied on word of mouth for so long that it is finally catching up to them.
Although word of mouth marketing is the best form of getting business because you are recommended by a third party…it cant be counted upon for everyone.
Have a good solid lead generation system is the way to go. Holding a promotion, survey, contest etc… will help drive people to your website….but once they are there you need a good way of capturing there name and email.
This is one that too many business do not understand and when you explain this to them they will be thanking you for years to come. They will think you are some kind of online wizard or something.
Once someone gives you there name and email you can communicate with them on a regular basis for next to no cost.
Your client will have to have a compelling purpose for the customer to ‘’opt in’’ like a video or report or special or redeem a coupon etc….but once they do your marketing cost just decreased and your ROI or lifetime value of that customers just increased.
Of course you can help them create the ‘’opt in’’ material and all you need to do now is to drive traffic to there website….lets talk about that now….
5- Driving traffic – there are so many ways to drive traffic….I am just going to tell you about the best ones. There are 2 ways to funnel traffic to your website one is online nad the other is offline. For the purpose of this section lets talk about …Online Traffic.
To understand online traffic I want to explain to you that there is a big diffirence between the national and the local level of the internet. Nationally there are a lot of people searching for almost everything. Locally there may not be any. This is called search volume.
One of the best ways to get online traffic to your site is to blog about your business. Creating content via writing articles, videos etc…is good but you will need to have a plan.
Any plan you have online has to start with a keyword.
Before doing this you will want to know what your keywords are. Start with a root keyword like Your town + the business you are in. so if you are a plumber in San Francisco your keywords would be something like San francisco Plumbing.
Go to the Google External Keyword tool at Keyword.google.com and type in that word. See what other words show up and pick the most relevant ones.
There is a lot more to identifying keywords than we can get into in this report but whatever you think your customers are searching for is a keyword. Use the tool to see if there is any search volume and then you are on your way.
Once you have determined your keywords…start blogging on your website. Make each post, page, article etc….based around one keyword.
If you are using Wordpress as your website/blogging platform then every time you create a post…a page is automatically created for you. That page is now ‘’optimized’’ for the keyword you chose. Make sure that you have that same keyword in the title, the H1 tag (don’t worry if you don’t know what that is) and the body copy of your post.
You can then write articles about that keyword and submit those to article directories like www.ezinearticles.com and of course do some video.
Video is something that everyone should be doing on some level. Your client can do video really inexpensively and easy and then send it out to dozens of social media websites, bookmark them, title them and point the links back to your website.
I know this may sound like a lot of work but its not that hard once you know how to do it. That is one of the reasons to become and online marketing assistant is because too many people and business owners don’t have time to learn and then implement these proves strategies.
6- Offline Traffic – teaching business owners to send the customers they see everyday to there online website is crucial to the long term marketing plan of the business.
To do this you will need to have reasons to send the customers there. Some reasons are:
• A how to video or tutorial
• A special report
• A coupon redemption
• The weekly special
• Pricing
• An audio interview
• Resources
• There newsletter
There are so many ways you just have to match the market to the message. And you can help the business owner do that.
There are many other conventional ways to send offline traffic to your website like flyers and postcards and Yellow page ads…but none is better than making an offer they cant refuse and sending them to your website.
There are still some people who wont use the web and those people will be left behind. For the majority it is expected to have some interaction with a business owners website – you may as well make it count.
7- Google is the biggest search engine on the web. They get over 2/3rds of the traffic online and they own you tube and other engines that take much more market share.
There are many other search engines and although we don’t completely ignore them, we focus on Google. Google offers much more than just a search partner. They have free services like
Google offers dozens of services that most people don’t even know about from Gadgets to calenders but some of the ones we use everyday are:
• Gmail an email service
• Google Docs to help keep you organized
• Google Earth
• Google Trend – to keep current on search terms
• Google Analytics – allows you to track visitors behavior and more
• Google Anwsers – Question and answer service, allowing users to pay researchers to answer questions.
• Google Local
• Google Business Center
• Google Video
• You Tube
• Blogger – Googles Blog platform
• Google Reader – for your feed aggregation
• Google Alerts – E-mail notification service, which sends alerts based on chosen search terms, whenever there are new results.

Google is your friend.
But make n mistake about it they arein business to make money and that they do well.
It is never in anyone’s best interest to do anything that you don’t think Google will like. Ask yourself if you think it is tricking Google or beating Google and if it is…don’t do it. Particularily on a customers website. Google wont like it and will find out about it. Keep it simple and play it straight and you will be happy.
As you can see there is a lot to know in this fast moving and exciting industry on the web. Most business need the help they just don’t know where to go to get it. After reading this report you know more about the internet than most business owners and certainly most people.
